Entrance examination by recommendation

There are several methods for entrance examination by recommendation.

1. AO entrance examination by recommendation (category selection)

Under the AO entrance examination by recommendation (category selection), applicants with the aptitude for the Faculty of Information Networking for Innovation and Design are selected using the following three types of entrance examinations. (Please check the entrance examination requirements for details regarding each category.)

A. Computer Science based
The examination looks at the applicant’s knowledge of computer science with a focus on programming. Applicants are required to submit previously developed software and software for a particular assignment and then give a presentation.

B. Achievements based
Applicants are required to give a presentation on their achievements in the areas of information technology, design, business, urban engineering (civil engineering), or other campus activities.

C. Web experience-based class
The video for the "Web experience-based class" will be published on the admissions information website on September 1. Applicants are required to give a presentation on the results of their investigation of the topic which is covered in the video.

2. AO entrance examination by recommendation (comprehensive questions)

The AO entrance examination by recommendation (comprehensive questions) selects the students that are particularly sought by the four courses within the Faculty of Information Networking for Innovation and Design through a cross-disciplinary set of comprehensive questions and an interview.

  • Applicants to Information Networking Business Innovation Course: Japanese language (contemporary texts), Economics, Mathematics, Information Technology
  • Applicants to Information Networking Digital Design Course: Japanese language (contemporary texts), Fine arts, Information Technology
  • Applicants to Information Networking Computer Science & Engineering Course: Japanese language (contemporary texts), Physics, Mathematics, Information Technology
  • Applicants to Information Networking Social Infrastructure Course: Japanese language (contemporary texts), Physics, Mathematics, Information Technology

The AO entrance examination by recommendation (comprehensive questions) contains questions that can be answered by students who have diligently studied their high school textbooks. Admissions using the National Center Test

Admissions using the National Center Test uses the results of the center test to determine admission.
Depending on the number of subjects used to determine admission, there are five, four and three subject area versions.
The test is held on three dates for early-term (application period: January 6 – 13), mid-term (application period: January 6 – February 20), and late-term (application period: January 6 – February 27).

General entrance examination

1. Comprehensive set of questions

The General entrance examination (comprehensive questions) selects the students that are particularly sought by the four courses within the Faculty of Information Networking for Innovation and Design through a cross-disciplinary set of comprehensive questions.

  • Applicants to Information Networking Business Innovation Course: Japanese language (contemporary texts), Economics, Mathematics, Information Technology
  • Applicants to Information Networking Digital Design Course: Japanese language (contemporary texts), Fine arts, Information Technology
  • Applicants to Information Networking Computer Science & Engineering Course: Japanese language (contemporary texts), Physics, Mathematics, Information Technology
  • Applicants to Information Networking Social Infrastructure Course: Japanese language (contemporary texts), Physics, Mathematics, Information Technology

Applicants must satisfy one of the following qualifications in order to take the General entrance examination (comprehensive questions).

  • GTEC CBT 850 points or higher (for applicants who took the test in January 2015 or later)
  • GTEC for STUDENTS 580 points or higher (for applicants who took the test in January 2015 or later)
  • TEAP (four sections) 188 points or higher (for applicants who took the test in January 2015 or later)
  • TEAP (two sections) 94 points or higher (for applicants who took the test in January 2015 or later)
  • Practical English Proficiency Test Grade Pre-2 with a passing score of 1500 points or higher (for applicants who took and passed both the primary and secondary tests in June 2016 or later)

Scholarships will be awarded to successful applicants who pass the General entrance examination (comprehensive questions) to be held on February 1 and meet certain requirements.

2. General entrance examination

Depending on the subjects being tested, there are four, three, and two subject area versions.
The tests are held on five different dates. (They use the same entrance examination questions as other departments of Toyo University.)
